November 15th 2012, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC/ President, PSB), met the officials of Pakistan Professional Boxing Federation. Federal Minister appreciated the efforts of PPBL and stated it as a positive step towards the promotion of sports leading towards the better image of Pakistan at global level. Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani also thanked Miss. Antonela Maria Obreja for supporting PPBL in getting the international licences to bring professional boxing to Pakistan. Officials of PPBL explained the objectives and vision of PPBL to the minister of sports in detail. Mr. Umer Toor requested the Minister to support PPBL on different grounds. The aim of PPBL is to promote the game of Professional boxing in Pakistan. The current boxing federation is working for amateur boxers. Unfortunately, that takes care of half of the job. Youngsters to put their efforts as amateur boxers with the aim of getting into professional boxing but as there was no licensed organisation before PPBL, the efforts of fighters went aimless.
PPBL has gained the License from the office of World Boxing Council. This legitimates the operation of PPBL in relevance to the International standards. WBC License means following.
- Pakistan can host boxing’s world title competitions
- Pakistani amateur boxers will have a next step platform
- Pakistani professional boxers will become the part of international ranking
- Pakistani players will be able to compete in international competitions
- WBC backs the existence of A Boxing League in PAKISTAN
Since the first national boxing championship in 1948, Pakistan has not established any platform for professional boxers. This is a history making step in sports. Pakistan is stepping up to be the part of International professional boxers. PPBL has extended the life line of a Pakistani boxer. Professional boxing will help Pakistan in sending a clear message of sports loving and peaceful nation.
Government of Pakistan’s and Minister of Sports consideration to the matter of affiliating PPBL with the local bodies will speed up the process of the historical step. PPBL requested the support in terms of logistics, licenses and finances.
